Artist Comments: I depicted Aint Going to Study War No More because I wanted the students to know the Revolutionary War and the Civil War. James Armistead Lafayette (1760-1832) was an African American slave spy during the Revolutionary War. After receiving permission from his master, Lafayette joined the service and served under General Lafayette. Mr. Lafayette won the trust of Benedict Arnold and General Cornwallis. Strategies discussed, and Armistead was able to relay a message to the Americans in the Revolutionary war, where they gained the upper hand in the Battel of Yorktown
